Pietrarossa’s vineyard is situated just 3 kilometers south of Montalcino town, in the locality of La Croce, in front of Biondi Santi Tenuta Greppo, at about 300m above sea level.
The first Brunello which Simone Biliorsi, the owner, made was vintage 2004, however his grandfather has been producing limited quantities for family’s personal use already since the 70’s.
This is “traditional style” Brunello made in extremely tiny quantity of a few thousands bottles per year. Only one label is made now but Simone plans to make a Riserva in special vintages.
Very impressive and beautifully crafted Brunello for the lucky few. HK is the first in the Orient to get its hands on a limited quantity of this small gem!
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2014
Maceration for about 3 weeks, then aged in classic style in big Slavonian casks for 39 months. The wine is released well after the legal requirement to allow the wine a finer balance. Seductive nose of dark fruits laced with perfumed herb. Slowly evolving into an elegantly perfumed black plum with light earthy notes and milk chocolate coated oak. Well structured and hugely complex palate of dark fruits at the core with sweet acidity wrapped around with noticeable fine tannins. Long and fine finish leaving a subtle taste of barnyard soil gently lingering. Obviously great aging potential for the patient few.
