The castle is situated in the heart of Chianti Classico, between Florence and Siena, the production of wine started in 1170, therefore it is one of the oldest wineries in Italy and also in whole of Europe. Giovanni da Verrazzano, a navigator who discovered the bay of New York in 1524, was born there in 1485.
Everything is managed in traditional style and following organic farming since vintage 2014 (rare in Tuscany). Size of the vineyards didn’t change in the time, they are covering the slopes along the hill with the castle atop.
