This ''BenRiach'' stands out from the rest of the portfolio due to its triple distillation. The casks are certainly of high quality, even if the ratio of the cask types is clearly on the side of the bourbon casks. The PX casks deliver very hidden flavors and the spirit is so clean that it lacks any fusel flavors and is almost alcoholic sterile and bland. I think this is a good whisky, but no particular surprise.
Nose
Very light and subtle, freshly baked shortbread, lemony, vanilla, crystal clear barley, the spice-laden oak lurking in the background, freshly chopped ginger, fresh figs
Taste
Vanilla croissants, the lemon is replaced by lime, the barley moves to the fore and wears an alcohol-cleansed vest, toasted oak, some milk chocolate with roasted hazelnuts
Finish
Just medium length, liquorice, pink pepper, delicately malty, again a hint of chocolate, the oak comes up with some mint, peppery spiciness, lime zest, traces of ginger, dried figs linger in the mouth with minimal vanilla
